A wonderful start to your holiday in Sweden
A beautiful sea voyage at the beginning of the holiday can be very relaxing and a wonderful start of your holidays in Sweden.
Many travellers choose the connection Sassnitz - Trelleborg or Rostock - Trelleborg. If you are from southern Germany and already did some travelling in Germany, you should consider driving at night. You can rent a comfortable cabin and arrive in Sweden well rested and refreshed. We recommend either the TT-Line from Travemünde or Rostock to Trelleborg or Stena Line from Kiel to Gothenburg.
It applies to most ferry lines that you should be at the wharf at least 30 minutes before departure, otherwise your reserved space may be lost. More detailed information can be found on your ticket. On the ferry you can shop duty free. Most ships have a shop, a restaurant with Scandinavian buffet, cafeteria, etc.
In summer, the sun deck is a popular place to let the sea breeze caress your face.
Since 2000 is there another convenient way to Sweden to get:
the spectacular bridge between Copenhagen and Malmö, the Oresund bridge.

For those who wish to not to use any ferry we recommend this route:
Driving in Germany in the north via Flensburg and then in Denmark first over the bridge from the Little Belt. Then cross the bridge over the large Belt at Nyborg and Korsör and finally the bridge over the Oresund from Copenhagen to Malmö.
We find that most of the ferries have cheap, sometimes even very cheap fares. It is worthwhile in any case, to compare the prices. Many ferries have different prices for day and night driving and weekend / Saturday or within the week.
Remember that you can choose your arrival and departure day. This can be quite handy. On Saturday, many car ferries are overcrowded because many cottage owners in Scandinavia prescribe Saturday as a changeover day.
