Hiking & Strolling

Grodspårtet – "Frog hiking trail" - adventure in the forest and meadow, 2.4km
Meet the ”Skogsmulle” and dicover his forest and meadow kingdom. A short story awaits you at the pond. It's best to take a picnic with you, because there are many places to rest on the way.
The path is not suitable for strollers, takes about 35 minutes and is marked with frogs.
The start and finish is the indoor swimming pool Ulricehamn. Parking at the indoor swimming pool.

Blue Trail – Adventure in forest and meadow  for young and old hikers, 5 km
This varied hiking trail leads through quiet forest and flowering meadows. Pack your backpack to have a little break in between. The treasures of the forest can easly be discovered on this round trip for the whole family. The path is marked with blue and is not suitable for strollers. The start and finish is the indoor swimming pool. Parking at the indoor swimming pool.

Vildmarksleden Åras Kvarn – "Wilderness Trail" - an adventure hiking trail of  4 or 8.5 km
The “wilderness trail” is an eventful and child-friendly hiking trail. With a little luck you can see moose and deer here. The path starts at the old water mill “Årås Kvarn” in the Ulricehamn municipality, near Kölingared. The hike is a round trip with a total length of 8.5 kilometers or 4 kilometers. Don't forget your bathing suit; at Varpaled you can swim and refresh yourself.
Start and finish is the Åras Kvarn mill, parking lot at Åras Kvarn.

Komosse – an exciting hike with mountain character, 5 km
This way you walk on wooden planks through parts of the nature reserve Komosse marshland. You can watch birds and other animals on the lookout tower and along the way you will learn everything you need to know about this marshland. At the small lake ”Lilla Björnö” you can grill and have a picnic.
The trail begins in the parking lot at Mörkö, on the country road between Köttkulla and Mulseryd. The path runs mostly on wooden planks and is therefore not suitable for strollers.

Tips for hiking with children:

Cycling

Cycle on car-free lanes and enjoy our beautiful nature.
The old railway line that leads directly past Skotteksgården is perfect for a bike ride with the whole family.
The bike path leads south along the lake. You come through an old railway tunnel and past Marbäck's cozy bathing place. Off into the water and cool down before continuing to Vegby. There in Vegby is the lake park with football-golf. Mini golf and a pizzeria on the Vegby campsite.

The routeSkotteksgården – Vegby is appr. 15km.
The bike path is completely car-free and paved and therefore very relaxing to ride for parents and children.
Bicycles for children and adults can be rented at the reception.

Pedal Boat

One of the funniest activities on a really hot summer day is jumping into the water from one of our pedal boats. As a reward after a long hike or bike tour, some time on the pedal boat is certainly a highlight for all children.Pedal boats can be rented at the reception.

Swimming & Playing

At Skottesgården Camping & Stugby you can enjoy our child-friendly and flat sandy beach.

Next to the reception there is a really nice playground with a swing, slide and climbing tower.
Or how about a table tennis competition? You can borrow clubs and balls for free at the reception. A game of boules is a relaxing way to end the day.

One of the city's most beautiful playgrounds is in the city center - Ulrica Park - right on Lake Åsunden. Easy to reach by bike, on foot or by car, is it a worthwhile excursion in the morning or afternoon. Obstacle course, climbing net, cable car, slide, trampoline and swing are some of the activities. For the slightly older children there is also a DJ table where music can be played from a mobile device.
There is a café, restaurant and swimming area nearby which is open during the summer.

Horse Riding

Hällstads Icelandic horses
A paradise for children and animal lovers. Hällstads Kronogård offers riding on Icelandic horses for all ages. Young children have a lot of fun when they do a "trial lesson" on friendly and calm Icelandic ponies. For those who already have more riding experience, there are half-day and full-day tours. The horse farm also has cows, sheep, pigs, rabbits, guinea pigs and cats.

The pony riding in Skåtåsgården, Börstig offers riding lessons for children up to 11 years.
Ride on small Shetland ponies, help with the preparation of the horses before and after the ride. For the little ones there is a mini tour of 20 minutes.

Minigolf & Bowling

Mini golfHow about a game of mini golf? The facility is located at Camping Prången, at the northern end of the lake. Here all have fun on a newly prepared golf courses. Ice cream, drinks and sandwiches can be bought on site. Or how about a bike trip to Vegby. The mini golf course is right next to the bike path.

Bowling
Are you looking for a nice activity for the evening or is it a rainy day? Then here is our suggestion: a round of bowling for everyone! At "Strike House" you enjoy also shuffleboard, billiards, air hockey and a lot more besides bowling. Easily accessible by bike, on foot or by car, this place means great entertainment for everyone.
We recommend reserving a lane if you want to play Friday or Saturday evening. The adjoining restaurant serves delicious dishes from the southern United States and Mexico.

Indoor Swimming Pool

The indoor swimming pool Ulricehamn is an excellent alternative on bad weather days. There are two pools: a 25 meter swimming pool with 6 lanes, separate jumping area and water slide. In addition, a training pool of 12.5 x 6 meters. A whirlpool and sauna are also available. The youngest ones will find little slides, water-splashing animals, waterfalls and lots of toys in the play pool.
At the  coffee "Tre Rosor" you can have a rest.

Ekehågens Forntidsbyn – Stoneage Village

You can experience an adventurous journey back to the Stone Age at the Ekehågens Stone Age Museum Village in Åsarp, approx. 35 km from Skotteksgården.
Try out a few things like hitting flintstones, paddling stock boats, solving old games or daily tasks. There are guided tours or you can explore the Stone Age Village on your own.
Ekehågens Café offers warm dishes, sandwiches, baked cakes, ice cream and drinks.

Borås Zoo

African savannah meets Nordic wildness right in the center of the city. Borås Zoo is a 40-hectare facility with large animal enclosures, park-like layout with walking paths, barbecue areas, playgrounds and is therefore a well-known destination for families with children. Don't miss Simba's water park with its various water activities. Climb onboard the Simba train for a trip around Lake Sälsjön.
In the zoo there are the possibilities to grill and for picnic, but also several kiosks and restaurants. The entire zoo is adapted for strollers.

Universeum & Liseberg in Gothenburg

Universeum - Scandinavia's largest science center

Liseberg – the largest amusement park in the North
With many breathtaking rides for daredevils and cute carousels in the „rabbit land“ for younger visitors, Liseberg offers fun and games for all ages.
