There are a lot of nice day trips in the region and here we recommand the ones we like best.
Some are just around the corner, others are a little further away, but it's definitely worth driving there.
Experience the crane dance on Lake Hornborga in spring. Discover the cultural heritage of the Sjuhärad region in Limmared and Borås. Or the beautiful west coast around Gothenburg with its rugged cliffs and picturesque fishing villages. Adventure in the Wild West awaits you in High Chaparral and in Vimmerby Pippi Longstocking invites you to Villa Villekulla.
The Mansions at the Lake
”The Mansions at the Lake” is a small tour around Lake Åsunden, either by car or by bike. The tour is based on the novels by the author Birgit Th Sparre, who lived in one of the manor houses at the lake.
There are many must-see sights along this beautiful and very relaxing circular tour: Torpa Stenhus, Hofsnäs Herrgård and Hemma på Källabacka.

Limmared
Limmared is a place with an old glass blowing tradition, just 30 km south of Ulricehamn. The glass blowing factory dates from the 1740s and is the oldest company in Sweden. In the "Glasetshus" you can follow the glass production from the 18th century until today and in the art hall you will find current exhibitions of glassblowers and artists.
In the winter garden there is the possibility for a coffee or lunch.
Limmared has now also become a mecca for collectors and antique dealers. On the main street of the village there are 14 shops that sell antique, used and retro objects.
The new glass park, an activity park for children and young people, is located right next to the "Glasetshus".
Combine culture, good food and play on this exciting excursion.
Kulturvägen – Cultural heritage route Västergötland
The cultural heritage route covers the region between Falköping, Ulricehamn and Tranemo and includes numerous sights such as monuments, old farms, medieval churches, but also a lively landscape with handicrafts, locally produced food, activities, cafes and much more.

Gothenborg
Discover exciting museums, family-friendly activities, interesting sights and fantastic nature in and around the largest city in Westsweden. A day trip to Gothenburg is an experience for everyone just 1 hour's drive from Ulricehamn. Go on a safari in the rainforest at the Universeum and buy designer items made in Gothenburg in the fashion quarter Haga.

Jönköping & Gränna
Jönköping is beautifully situated on the southern shore of Lake Vättern, about 45 km from Ulricehamn.
The city center consists of small streets. Here you will find shops from well-known chains but also many small boutiques. The small district "Tändstickområde" with the match museum, studios and restaurants is worth a detour.
Gränna: Half an hour north of Jönköping you find the small town of Gränna with beautiful wooden houses, gardens and cobbled streets. The city is known for the production of "Polkagris" - red and white candies and candy canes - a visit to one of the many show workshops is a must. Of course you can try candy, too.
Take the ferry to Visingö: here you can hike on beautiful paths or rent a bicycle to cycle along the coast. Families with children appreciate a game of adventure mini-golf and the outdoor pool in Kumlaby. Discover the island on a ride in a horse carriage.
Falköping
Falköping is a small town about 50 km north of Ulricehamn and is linked to the Lake Hornborga, Mösseberg leisure area and Falbygdens Cheese Factory.
The dance of the cranes at Lake Hornborga is a unique experience in the spring when thousands of cranes come into the wetlands between Skövde, Skara and Falköping. "Trandansen" outlook offers stunning viewpoints, an interesting exhibit, a souvenir sale and a restaurant.
Mösseberg is an excursion destination, which is appreciated by many families with children. It offers hiking trails, a bathing lake, playgrounds, a ski run in winter and a small zoo free of charge.
Falbygdens Chees Factory is a paradise for cheese and food lovers. Alongside their own cheese you can also purchase products from local producers as well as selected food from other parts of the world. Take a guided tour through the cheese cellar, try good cheese and see how cheese is stored to get the right taste.
Lake Hornborga
Lake Hornborga is one of the most important bird lakes in Europe. In the spring, thousands of cranes return from Spain and remain for a few weeks before flying further north to their nesting sites. During the day, the birds make huge leaps into the air, they bow and circles around each other. At Trandansen,a look-out which is located along road 184 between Falköping and Skara, there are parking lots, view points, a crane exhibition, tourist information, souvenir sales and simple coffee service.
The Westcoast
Hike over rugged granite cliffs, stroll through pittoresque fishing villages and eat in one of the classic fish restaurants. The numerous large and small islands at the west coast offer extraordinary landscapes and a variaty of activities for all ages.

Käringön: Experience narrow streets, white wooden houses, a busy harbor and beautiful bathing spots between cliffs on this car-free island far out in the Bohuslän archipelago. Take the ferry from Tuvesvik on the island of Orust and you will reach the port of Käringön with its small summer shops, fish shops, cafes and restaurants. Leave the husslebuzzle of the harbor behind and hike on small paths across the island.
Dyrön: This car-free, picturesque island is situated in the Marstrandsfjord in front of the island of Tjörn and has a lot to offer. Here you will find beautiful bathing spots with trampolines and sandy beaches. Hike on the beautiful Dyröleden hiking trail with a view of Carlstens fortress on Marstrand, Åstol and the archipelago towards Klädesholmen. From Rönnäng on the island of Tjörn you take the ferry to Dyrön- Nordhamn with its shops, cafes and restaurants.
Marstrandsön: Marstrandsön, 45 minutes north of Gothenburg, can be reached by a short ferry ride across the strait and is a popular destination in summer. Experience the mighty Carlsten Fortress, the harbor with boats of all kinds and cozy neighborhoods with car-free streets. In Marstrand you will also find first class restaurants and cafes as well as an amazing sea view wherever you look at.
There are good hiking opportunities in the area with beautiful views and swimming spots.
Astrid Lindgren Adventure World in Vimmerby
At Astrid Lindgren adventure world in Vimmerby, the stories about Pippi, Emil, Ronja and the other children become reality. Here you will find the Villa Villekulle, the Katthult-Farm, the Mattis-Forets and many other places that have become known through Astrid Lindgren's books. During the season, 50 different performances with scenes from their books are played every day. There are both picnic areas and restaurants for hungry visitors.

Skara Sommarland Water Park
Scandinavia's largest water park impresses its guests with a water fun park, a funfair and go-kart in one place. There are many different activities for all ages - from quieter carousels and playgrounds to fast water slides.
